Journalism

J.R. Duren : Reporter
There's nothing quite like working in a newsroom. Most of the rumors are true: long hours, harried editors, stressed-out reporters and an endless flow of coffee that tastes like hot soy sauce and cigarettes.

My old desk during my busy days at the Daily Sun

Despite this caffeine-laden madness, I fell in love with telling people's stories. I garnered three Florida Press Club Excellence in Journalism awards for my work in health, features and community news. Click here and here for the pages of one of my stories from the Daily Sun.

My journalism career continues in Barcelona. This past March, I wrote my first article for Barcelona Metropolitan, an English-language magazine for expats. Click here to read my recent article about Parc de Collserola.
